Adopt a pug

Take the first steps to provide a better life for a homeless pug.

Our Adoption Process

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must reside in the UK or Channel Islands and be over 18 years old.
  • We cannot accept applications from households with children under 8 years old.
  • We cannot accept applications from individuals who are away from home for more than 5 hours per day.

Application Review

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by a Rescue Manager.

  • If your application is accepted, your contact details will be added to our list of potential adopters. We will contact you when a suitable dog needs rehoming.
  • If your application is not accepted, you will receive a response from the Rescue Manager explaining why.

Matching Process

When a dog in our care is ready for adoption, our Rescue Managers will review all applications to find suitable homes.

If your home is considered a good match, a member of our Home Check team will contact you to arrange a virtual home check, which typically lasts one hour.

Home Check

During the virtual home check:

  • You will be asked to show us around your home so we can assess the environment for the dog.
  • We will ask questions about your lifestyle and suitability for adoption.
  • You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the process and our charity.
  • If your home check is successful, you will be considered as a potential adopter for a dog in need of a forever home.
  • If your home check is unsuccessful, the Rescue Manager will contact you with feedback.

Meet and Greet

If you are identified as a potential adopter, we will arrange a virtual meet & greet with:

  • You
  • The foster carer
  • One of our Rescue Managers

Our foster carers play a key role in the adoption process, as they have first-hand knowledge of the dog’s personality and needs.

Finalising the Adoption

If you are chosen as the most suitable adopter, we will proceed with the necessary paperwork and arrange for the dog to move to their forever home.

If at this stage you are not chosen, your details will remain on our contact list for future adoption opportunities.

Adoption Fee

There is a recommended adoption donation based on the dog’s age. This helps cover rescue, vet, and transportation costs, allowing us to continue our work.

Recommended Donations:

  • Under 12 months: £500
  • 1-2 years: £400
  • 3-4 years: £300
  • 5-7 years: £200
  • 8-9 years: £100
  • 10+ years: suggested by adopter
