Adopting through the NPPT

•  All applicants must reside in the UK or Channel Islands and be over the age of 18
• We are unable to accept applications where there are children under the age of 8 in the household
• We are unable to accept applications from applicants who are away from the home for more than 5 hours per day.

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by one of the Rescue Managers. 

o If your application is accepted at this stage, your contact details will be added to our list of potential adopters and we will be in touch when a dog needs rehoming. 

o If your application is not accepted at this stage, you will be contacted by the Rescue Manager with an explanation of why. 

When a dog in our care is ready for adoption, our Rescue Managers will review all adoption applications and identify potential suitable homes.  

If you are considered to be a suitable home, your contact details will be shared with a member of the Home Check team who will be in touch to arrange a virtual home check, which usually lasts for 1 hour.

During the home check, we will ask you to show us around your property so that we can see the environment in which the dog would like, we will also ask you a series of questions to understand more about your life and suitability to adopt. You will also have plenty of opportunities to ask us questions about the process and the charity. 

o If your home check is successful, we will put you forward as a potential adopter for the dog seeking a forever home. 

o If your home check is not successful, you will be contacted by the Rescue Manager with an explanation. 

Once we have identified potential suitable adopters for the dog, we will set up a virtual meet and greet between yourself, the foster carer and one of the Rescue Managers. Our charity invites all foster carers to be involved in the process of rehoming dogs, given their knowledge of the dog and what the dog needs. 

After the meet and greet, if you are chosen as the most suitable home for the dog, we will work with you to progress the paperwork and move to dog to their new forever home. 

If your application is successful, there is a recommended adoption fee based on the age of the pug.  This funding is used to allow us to continue to rescue pugs and to help pay for vet fees and transportation costs. 

If at this point you are not chosen to adopt this dog, we will keep your details on our contact list ready for the next dog.
