About us

Our Mission

The National Pug Protection Trust (NPPT) is a UK-based rescue dedicated to the welfare, protection, and rehoming of pugs in need. We follow a strict non-destruction policy, ensuring that every unwanted, neglected, or abandoned pug gets the second chance they deserve.

Our Vision

We strive to rescue pugs in urgent need, providing them with safe, loving foster care before transitioning them to their forever homes. Their wellbeing, safety, and happiness remain our top priorities.

Our History

Founded in 2020, the National Pug Protection Trust was created to fundraise, rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pugs across the UK. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to build a trusted, compassionate rescue network, ensuring every pug in our care receives the love, medical attention, and support they need to thrive.

Our team

Pauline

Co-Founder, Trustee, and Chair.

As a dedicated fundraiser, Pauline works alongside fellow trustees to generate essential funds for the charity. Always on the lookout for auction items and innovative fundraising ideas, she play a key role in ensuring the trust can continue its vital rescue and rehoming work.

With over 40 years of experience owning and showing pugs, Pauline is also a championship show judge, bringing extensive breed knowledge and expertise to the organisation. When not supporting the charity, she is kept busy by her three beloved pugs.

Lorraine

Co-Founder, Trustee, and Treasurer.

In addition to sharing fundraising responsibilities, she manages the charity’s accounts, ensuring financial stability to support its rescue and rehoming efforts.

When needed, Lorraine also assists the rescue team, helping with transportation and fostering. She is a familiar face at NPPT events, always happy to chat about the charity and its work.

At home, she is kept busy by her four beloved pugs.

Julia

Trustee and Policy Advisor.

Her primary role is to provide legal guidance and ensure the charity’s governance and policies comply with all necessary regulations. In addition to her advisory work, she is actively involved in fundraising, often filling her home with pug-themed auction items to support the cause.

At home, Julia cares for her two rescue pugs: Poppy, a gentle old lady, and Alfie, a handsome and affectionate troublemaker.

Claire

Rescue Manager.

As Rescue Manager, Claire coordinates the rehoming process, guiding owners through the next steps and arranging safe transport to foster homes. Once in NPPT’s care, she checks in with foster carers, organises vet treatments, conducts home checks, and finds the best forever homes for each pug.

She also manages NPPT’s social media accounts and attends events, always happy to chat about the charity. At home, she has one pug - and often a foster too!
